William Uphold

November 30, 1943 — November 3, 2023

William Harrison "Buddy" Uphold, age 79 a resident of the Tygart Valley Health and Rehabilitation of Belington, WV., and a former resident of Morgantown, WV, passed away from this life on Friday, November 3, 2023, in the Davis Medical Center of Elkins, WV, following an extended illness.

He was born on November 30, 1943, in Dellslow, WV, a son of the late James H. Uphold and Ada Bell (Shaffer) Uphold.

On March 26, 2017, at Nicholson Chapel of Morgantown, WV., he was united in marriage to the former Dorothy June McClure who survives.

Left behind to cherish his memory are one son, James Uphold; one daughter, Ann Hart and husband, Tony Hart Sr.; grandchildren, Curtis Kidd, Kloe Hart, Charity Davis, J.T Uphold, and Amanda Uphold; step daughters, Teresa Paugh and husband, Jeffrey Paugh, Jenny Davis and husband, Justin Davis and April Landis and husband, Russell; a step son, Gabriel Cutright and wife, Beulah Cutright; sisters, Phoebe Riffle, and Percey Gray and husband, Donald Gray; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Brian Kidd; one granddaughter, Franchesca Uphold; twin sisters, Mary and Blanche Uphold; sisters, Rebecca Uphold, Rosa Lee Hartley, Arlene Dalton, and Goldie Barnett; one brother, Ralph Shaffer.

Buddy was a Christian by faith he attended the Nicholson Chapel Church before he and his wife moved to Belington. In his younger years, he loved to ride motorcycles and teach others how to ride. Buddy enjoyed watching TV, his favorite program to watch was the late Rev. Jimmy Swaggart and calling his family in the middle of the night saying did you see that. He loved to clean and owned his own commercial cleaning service called Fantastic Cleaning which was named by his brother-in-law, he loved to fish and he loved to eat.

The loss of Buddy Uphold leaves a void in the lives of those who loved him. May his kind soul find eternal peace, and may his memory be a comfort and inspiration to us all. In this time of grief, we extend our deepest sympathies to the Uphold family as they continue to navigate this difficult journey. You will forever remain in our hearts.
