Wallace Jerry Lockard, age 82 a resident of Philippi, WV., passed from this life on Friday November 18, 2022, at his home, his death was sudden and unexpected.
He was born into this life on June 9, 1940, in Rivesville, WV., a son to the late Linla Ewell Lockard and Creda (Hall) Lockard.
Surviving are his caregivers and best friends; Beverly, and Engiba Hughes, Bernard, and Jaiden Greathouse; one nephew, and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by his only sister, Wilda Cruikshank.
Mr. Lockard attended the schools of Marion County Schools. He proudly served our country in the United States Army his last rank was a Sergeant, he served during the Vietnam Era. Wally worked in the coal mines for a while, and then started driving tactor and trailers on long hauls. He loved to hunt, fish, and travel the roads of Barbour County. Wally was an outgoing person who never met a stranger and would speak to anyone he encountered when eating at his favorite restaurants, Philippi Inn, Medallion, and the Grand China Buffet of Eastpointe, they all knew him by name, and knew he was a very kind person. He is going to be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Mr. Lockard's wishes for cremation will be honored. His cremains will be interred at a later date at the Sugar Creek Cemetery in Braxton County. The Kittle Family Funeral Home, 265 Beech Ave., Philippi, is honored to be assisting the friends of the family with the arrangements.
