Theodore Drew Schillumeit, age 68 a resident of Philippi, West Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at his residence. His death was sudden and unexpected. A beloved father, son, brother, grandfather, and dedicated veteran of the United States Marines. He Born on June 15, 1955, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida a son to the late Franz Schillumeit and Mayoda (McDowell) Schillumeit. Ted devoted his life to serving his country with honor and courage.

Ted leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, cherished by his sons Michael Schillumeit, Mitchell Schillumeit (Taron), and Matthew Schillumeit,, and his beloved grandchildren ; Hailey Schillumeit, Aisley McGee, Laila Schillumeit, Sophia Schillumeit, Sullivan Schillumeit, and Samantha Schillumeit, one sister; Doretta Finley, bonus son; Ricky Iwanowski., his best friend; Terry McLean (Charlene). His memory will forever be treasured by all who knew him. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother; Glen Schillumeit, and one sister; Serena Garrett.

After completing his education and earning his high school diploma from Philip Barbour High School with the class of 1974, where he lettered in wrestling and football. Ted went to the states in wrestling and was the leading tackler in the state for football. He entered in the United States Marines where he served faithfully for several years, demonstrating bravery and resilience in the face of adversity. His commitment to his fellow soldiers and his unwavering loyalty to his country exemplified the true spirit of a patriot. He served our country for 26 years until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family, shooting pool, karaoke, fishing, watching, and collecting college basketball and football gear. Ted was into 5k running around the area where he was very competitive and took pride in everything he done. If you traveled along 119 toward Buckhannon or going in the direction of Cherry Hill Road, you would see Ted walking and running getting ready for the 5k events. He was a member of the Philippi American Legion Post 44, and he also was a member of Belington V.F.W. Post 410.

Ted Schillumeit will be remembered for his courage, strength, and unwavering dedication to his family and his country. May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory continue to inspire all those who knew and loved him.
