Russell Paul Martz, a beloved father, brother, and dedicated cook, passed away from this life on Friday, September 8, 2023, at the age of 61. He was born on June 6, 1962, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, to his loving parents who have since departed from this world.

 

He served in the US Marines stationed in Okinawa, and Beirut where he was a cook and health inspector Russell's passion for cooking led him to a fulfilling career in the food service industry. Russell also loved to study American History. He spent several years working as a cook at the Louis A. Johnson Veterans' Administration Medical Center in Clarksburg where his love for both food and serving others shone brightly. Russell's dedication to his craft earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the patients he nourished each day.

 

He possessed a wealth of knowledge and experience that he eagerly shared with those around him. His warm and friendly demeanor endeared him to all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.

 

Outside of his professional life, Russell was a loving father to his six cherished, sons and daughters, Matthew and Daniel Martz, Colleen Cawthon, and husband Jason, Teresa Carte, and husband David, Melissa Gunter, and Amanda Currey He was immensely proud of their accomplishments and supported them in their endeavors with unwavering love and guidance. Russell's devotion to his family extended beyond his immediate kin. Their bond was one of shared memories, laughter, and unconditional support.

 

He was also preceded in death by his best friend, and companion, JoAnn Kelley who departed this life in November 26, 2021.

 

Russell's impact on those around him was immeasurable. His infectious smile and zest for life brought joy to countless lives. His ability to find beauty in the simple things and his unwavering optimism were truly inspiring. Russell's warm presence and caring nature will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

According to his wishes, cremation is planned, and his family will honor and celebrate the life he lived. A heartfelt memorial service will follow, later where loved ones can come together to celebrate the incredible life he lived.
