Larry Moore

August 25, 1947 — February 23, 2023

Philippi, WV

Larry Allen Moore, 75 of Tacy Community went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 23, 2023, at approximately 4:00 pm. due to a farming accident. He was born on August 25, 1947, in Grafton, a son of the late Dorothy "Pauline" and Durbin Allen Moore.
Larry married the love of his life, Dorcas Wilson on November 27, 1970 and had celebrated 52 wonderful years of marriage.
They were the proud parents of a son, Justin Moore and girlfriend, Stephanie and a daughter, Sheena Moore. He is also survived by a sister Brenda Morris (Paul) and a brother, Jason Moats (Elizabeth). Others surviving are sister in laws, Helen Mouser, Kathy Hoffman (David), Joyce Wagner all of Philippi, and Janet Wilson of Gormania.
He was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law, Bill Mouser, Tim, and Gale Wilson.
Larry was a 1965 graduate of Philip Barbour High School, and by October was training in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic on the C-141 at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma during the Vietnam era earning the rank of a Staff Sargent serving until 1969. After returning home he had various employments. Working on the B&O Railroad, Rish Equipment, in the Coal mines. He finally found his job of driving a school bus for Barbour County School System for 27 years and was accident free. He loved the children he met and basically treated them like his own. He attended Nestorville UM church where he had a natural gift of teaching Sunday School Classes to the youth/high school or adults. He was also a Superintendent and Lay Speaker for the church. He devoted several hours each day to reading his Bible and daily devotions and praying. He had a deep desire for everyone to be saved and spent eternity with Jesus Christ. Larry was a big inspiration to many people after his battle with oral cancer. He was not able to eat a bite of food and relied on his feeding tube for nourishment yet never complained. His health did not stop him from working on fence, cutting many cords of firewood yearly, clearing land, working in his hayfields, and fixing anything that broke around the house. He also enjoyed Sunday Jeep rides and teaching many young drivers to drive his 3 speed stick shift 1975 CJ5 Jeep that he purchased new. He enjoyed gardening, horseback riding, teaching others how to ride and woodworking, which he proved to be very talented at. "Well done thou good and faithful servant" Matthew 25:21
